Screenshots of Simidude The Network Clipboard
Simidude is actually really cool when sitting in front of your computers and watching it throw data back and forth between them. We encourage you to download the 30-day trial and test it for yourself. In the meantime we’d like to show you some of Simidude’s features…
Please click on the images to see larger versions of them.
The Big Picture
Simidude helps you to manage and distribute your clipboard items. It does not only distributes clipboard entries or files throughout connected clients, it also holds a list of already transferred items. That way you don’t have to resend items over and over again, but simply locate them in your Simidude item list and activate them. You can remove items from the list or clear the list altogether. You can also do a fulltext search through displayed items.
Simidude on Mac OS X Leopard
Simidude is developed simultaneously on Windows, Mac and Linux to ensure great usability across all supported platforms.
Simidude on Ubuntu 8.10 “Intrepid Ibex”
On of the other supported systems is Linux. Our main Linux distribution is Ubuntu. Ubuntu is really easy to use and supports a visually appealing user interace.
Copy From Clipboard
Clipboard contents is automatically transferred into Simidude (you can disable this behavior). Simidude does now understand Images, too. So when you select some image part in a graphics program and copy this to the clipboard, the image is also transferred to Simidude and to all connected clients. Simidude displays the image as a small thumbnail, giving you a way to distinguish entries. Simidude will also display thumbnail images of image files that you copied to the clipboard or dragged onto Simidude directly.
Get Contents
The content of files or directories that you drag onto Simidude or that get copied to the clipboard is not automatically transferred to prevent unnecessary network traffic. If you want to download content of a specific file or directory you right click on the entry and choose “Download Contents”.
You can also double click on an entry in case a standard application is registered for the given file type. This will download the file contents if neccessary and subsequentially start it’s registered standard application.
Drag Items
To drag items from Simidude onto other applications you just grab the entry by clicking on it with the left mouse butten. Then, while holding the left mouse button down you move your mouse to the window of the target application and release the left mouse button. If your target application accepts the file type or clipboard entry type you dragged you should see it appear in your target application.
Please note: If the contents of the dragged file or directory has not yet been downloaded to the client that does the drag operation you can only drag the name of the file or directory. That means you can only drag the file name to a text editor for instance, but not into the Explorer or Finder to actually copy the file or directory there.
